Reflecting on 25 years: Scope of the Industry

When I first began in the industry the task of event planning and meeting management was primarily the task of the Executive Assistant. During the last 20 years the scope of the industry transformed into an outsourced amenity relying on professionals dedicated to full-service planning. I love this industry. It is unpredictable and there is always a new client with a new set of obstacles to overcome. The focus is on business getting done, and that happens outside of the meeting at the event following. We foster the human connection. With the next generation we see a connection through screens, so at events we must pull them away from the small screen in front of them and to the larger visual stimulus. Twenty years from now we will still be focused on the natural human connection.
